FAQ

We operate as a private billing health facility, where fees apply to all consultations and procedures. We do not bulk bill. Payments can be made using EFTPOS, Cash or Credit Card. Our billing policy is based on the Australian Medical Association Fee Schedule. It's important to note that private health funds/insurances do not cover outpatient consultation or outpatient procedure fees. Eligible individuals can receive some rebate from Medicare. Our facility is equipped with Medicare Online, enabling us to promptly lodge Medicare claims on your behalf. Most patients receive their rebates from Medicare within a couple of days. To prevent any payment disruptions, please ensure your bank details with Medicare are kept up to date.

All patients will be advised in advance about the fees. This includes consultation fees and procedure fees (if any). Due to the varying nature of each individual circumstances especially gynaecological surgeries, information about the exact cost will be provided as part of the financial consent process. Members of private health funds and insurances would incur zero (“no-gap”) or minimal out of pocket expenses for all in-hospital care including surgery. Information about our obstetric fee schedule will be provided in advance.

Patients will be seen according to their medical need. Onward referral to the public healthcare system will be organised if you need further intervention such as surgery. Some patients can be accommodated within Dr Rao’s public operating lists at Osborne Park Hospital. The public hospital waitlist policy applies in such instances.

A referral from your GP is required if you wish to get Medicare rebate or intend to use your private health insurance. If you are not Medicare eligible or do not intend to use your private health insurance, we can see you without a referral as a full fee-paying private patient.

Perth Gynae & Maternity Centre can be contacted at 08 – 6102 6648.
